Building for the Future

Building For The Future is a club that has been devised for our youth, which will allow them to have some involvement within the Federation. Our efforts are to help our children and youth to:

  1. Develop a love for all people and develop leadership potential and qualities.
  2. Foster and encourage strong moral character.
  3. Encourage loyalty to our communities, our nation and our heritage.

Children ages 0 to 12 are eligible to participate and will be broken down into two groups:

1. Children ages 0 to 6. This group will require parent involvement.
2. Children ages 7 to 12. This group will require some parent involvement.

There will be a Kid's Club representing each state within the Federation and broken into the two age groups above. Every year at the Convention, the Kid's Club will officially open the convention and perform some type of presentation (i.e. dabke, Arabic singing, etc.), which will take place on Thursday night. This performance will be determined by each individual group within each state. Each group within the "Kid's Club" will require a parent coordinator to organize the practices and performances.

In an effort to get this "Kid's Club" up and running by next year's convention, we need your input. Please fill out the Membership Application attached so we can have an idea of how many parents and young children are interested in being part of such a club. Any feedback you can give us would be most greatly appreciated! Please respond by May 1, 2005. Thank you very much!

A Note From the Flint Kid's Club Parent Coordinator...

My name is Natalie Zerka and I have been appointed to be the Parent Coordinator for the Flint area Kid's Club. I'm very excited about this new club, being that I have three young children. I am married to Albert Zerka and have been going to the Midwest Federation Conventions since 1993. My children have also been attending the annual conventions since they were babies and we all look forward to this event every year!

This past convention, which was held at the Schaumburg Marriott in Chicago, was so much fun! My kids had the best time and they participated in the opening of the convention on Thursday night, along with other children from Milwaukee and Illinois. These kids sang "Yankee Doodle" together, as well as the "Pledge of Allegiance" together. There were many events planned for kids that weekend, such as a pool party, crafts and face painting. On a personal note, my kids enjoyed meeting other children and getting to know them better, and will look for their "buddies" next year at the convention in Lincolnshire, Illinois. I would like to personally thank the Baroud family and the convention committee for their hospitality and for the many fun memories! I hope you will take the time to get your children involved in this exciting club. You won't regret it and they will thank you for it!

Thanking you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Natalie Zerka
