Meet the scholarship recipient: Meghan Unes

Fun fact: Before finding her passion for medicine, she wanted to become an FBI secret agent.

Meghan graduates from East Peoria Community High School with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She was President of the Key Club International and of the NHS & NJHS, and she was the Captain and MVP on the girls’ tennis team. As a member of Girl Up, she helped raise money for the education of girls in poverty-stricken countries (Malawi and Guatemala). As a Link Crew member, she mentored incoming freshmen. She is also a member of the Tazewell County Youth Leadership Board and received recognition as an Illinois State Scholar.

Additionally, she was accepted into one of only two high school cadaver labs in the nation. With a strong interest in medicine, she will attend Saint Louis University as a Biology and Bioethics major. A veteran school administrator writes that “Meghan is the kindest and most academically talented student I have ever encountered. With great maturity, she leads in a manner that is respected by her peers.”
