An accomplished student-athlete, she will continue her studies and athletic career as a member of the Division I Omaha Women’s Basketball team at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field and …looks forward to participating on medical mission trips. She was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team at Dowling Catholic High School, served as team captain, and helped lead her team to back-to-back state tournaments. She received All-State recognition from the Iowa Sports Writers Association.Her volunteer record includes assisting children and youth with special needs, delivering Thanksgiving meals, collecting Christmas gifts for families in need and assisting at a senior living community. A teacher writes: “Josie has great leadership skills. She enjoys working with people and shows compassion and empathy. She has been a respected mentor for our younger students.”
