Josie will be entering her third year of studies at the University of Nebraska-Omaha where she has a 3.2 grade point average. She is majoring in Kinesiology and anticipates entering nursing school following graduation.
Josie is a two-year starter on the women’s basketball team, Vice President of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, and a servant leader at school and in the community. Her outreach activities have been centered around her roles in athletics and in her sorority. They include placing donated school supplies into backpacks for children in need, helping disabled youngsters play basketball, and assisting in the larger community following a flood.
Her college advisor writes that “Josie consistently asks what she can do for those around her and often extends a hand to fellow students who are struggling with material.” She also noted that “Josie often credits her culture and her parents for her compassion.
