Meet the scholarship recipient: Shafiq Kassees

Shafiq graduates from Waukesha South High School with a weighted grade point average of 4.125. He earned these high marks while mastering 13 Advanced Placement and 7 Honors/Pre AP courses. He was Vice President of the Drama Program where he was a cast member, stage manager, and assistant director of the One Act Competition. Other activities included participation in Debate, Mock Trial, Student Council, Chamber Choir and the Freshmen Mentoring Program. His Eagle Scout Project entailed landscaping the school grounds. He was employed part-time as a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens.

His AP English teacher writes: “In a classroom of over-achievers, Shafiq’s overall academic performance was superior. He appreciates all opportunities given to him and his gratitude and sincerity make him the kind of student you never want to give up!” Shafiq will major in Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and hopes to attend law school after that.
